Workshop Engineer

Salary: Dependent on experience

Full time, permanent basis.  Monday – Friday. 8:30 – 5pm.  To start ASAP.

The role will be based in the workshop at our HQ in High Wycombe, HP13 5SH, reporting to our in-house Technical Manager and helping to co-ordinate workshop activities and test equipment for the company. 12-18 months experience in any engineering field is required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the test equipment inventory is accurate and recorded on our Asset Management System (AMS).
  • Maintain the AMS database, keeping inventory levels up to date for retirements, transfers, and newly purchased equipment.
  • Issue and control Asset numbers for new equipment and record details on the database.
  • Work with colleagues in the Tech and Finance teams, facilitating calibration of test equipment in line with the minimum down-time to operations.
  • Raise schedules for test equipment calibration, communicating with our field and site-based engineers to ensure arrangements are made for either in-house or external calibration.
  • Ensure all operational teams are aware of the procedure for calibrations including pricing, shipping and returns.
  • Book parts and equipment into the workshop and liaise with service desk to allocate engineers and dispatch parts as required.
  • Create an inventory of spare parts, tools and workshop-based test equipment.
  • Assist the technical team in providing installation support for hardware and software applications.
  • Ensure Loan equipment is inventoried and managed properly (booking in and out, maintenance, etc.), for both BCAS Biomed and our sister company, Source Medical.
  • Ensure that all engineering work carried out in the workshop (return to base, acceptance testing, disposal, etc.) is fully managed and controlled in line with regulations and quality management system.
  • Manage the workshop space in general, including maintaining a level of tidiness and organisation. Control the area to prevent parts and equipment accumulating.
  • Ship repaired equipment and acceptance-tested devices from the workshop to the customer.
  • Ensure the workshop has stock of required consumables at all times (e.g. clinical wipes, batteries, etc.).

 

Required:

  • 12-18 months experience in an engineering role
  • Knowledge and understanding of IT systems and capability in using them
  • A desire to learn and progress
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Self-Motivated and results driven, able to work on your own initiative
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage own workload
  • Highly organised

 

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Has a strong understanding of networking and IT
  • Has knowledge and understanding of ISO Standards including ISO 9001:2015, 13485:2016, and 17025:2017
  • Experienced in the use of Asset Management Systems
  • Has a Full UK Driving licence

 

Field Service Engineer

Salary: Dependent on experience

Full time, permanent basis.  Monday – Friday. 8:30 – 5pm.  To start ASAP.

This is a field-based role, and you will be working within our London Field Service Team, reporting to the Team Leader. You will carry out field-based scheduled and corrective maintenance for our community customers, providing on-site technical solutions whilst ensuring our customers receive the highest quality support. In addition to the benefits package, this role comes with a company vehicle. 24 months experience in biomedical engineering is required.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance and repairs on a wide range of medical devices.
  • Ensure service reports are completed in accordance with our Quality Management System
  • Liaise with customers regarding scheduled visits and corrective repairs.
  • Liaise with service desk to ensure service delivery meets KPIs.
  • Maintain effective quality systems to comply with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 13485:2016.
  • Utilise BCAS Biomed’s Asset Management System, ensuring it is kept up-to-date and accurate.
  • Identify and develop improvements to processes and functions to ensure the Company delivers consistently high levels of service for the customer
  • Build an honest and strong working relationship with our Trusts to ensure that the contract runs smoothly and achieves full compliance.
  • Positively increase the profile of BCAS Biomed and help grow the multi-vendor business.
  • Ensure that all company policies and procedures are fully complied with at all times.
  • Provide customer service support.

 

Required:

  • At least 24 months experience within a similar role, ideally dealing with community-based medical devices.
  • Ability to manage own workload
  • Full UK Driving license

  • An understanding and compliance with all regulatory requirements, including MHRA, Health and Safety, and Quality.
  • Must be ambitious, resourceful, flexible, and able to operate under occasionally difficult and stressful circumstances to deliver a strong and consistent performance. From time-to-time additional efforts will be required to ensure job completion, therefore a dedicated and determined attitude will be required
  • Must abide with all Company and Customer Health and Safety policies, Data Protection, Cyber Security and undertake any mandatory training when necessary to ensure on-going compliance.
  • Must project a confident and caring attitude to customers and promote BCAS Biomed’s best interest whilst ensuring the requirements are met.
  • Must be able to work well within a team environment as well as provide a strong individual performance.

 

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Will have a minimum of HNC/HND in Electronics/Micro-processors/Electrical Engineering or related filed.
  • Will have a proactive approach to all tasks, displaying a high degree of initiative and determination to resolve any issues.
  • Demonstrates a high level of competency with IT systems for managing assets and reporting on work completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Demonstrates ongoing commitment to personal development.
